Meludia: Where Music Meets Technology

Meludia is a French music learning platform founded in 2012 by Bastien Sannac and Vincent Chaintrier, who also created the original pedagogy behind it. Unlike traditional methods, Meludia focuses on developing auditory and cognitive skills through interactive listening exercises—helping learners, from beginners to professionals, deeply understand the language of music.

Meludia’s pedagogy focuses on developing core musical perception skills—such as pitch, rhythm, harmony, and structure—through hundreds of progressive, game-like exercises. The platform is used by music conservatories, national education systems, and individual learners worldwide.

Key Projects & Contributions

Over the years, I’ve contributed to some of Meludia’s most ambitious projects, combining music, technology, data, and even healthcare. Here’s an overview of my key contributions from 2021 to 2024.

🎵 The Sound Factory

In 2021 and 2022, I designed and developed the Sound Factory, a custom-built tool for generating sound samples used in Meludia’s interactive music exercises. Based on pedagogical rules and music theory, it allowed automatic creation of thousands of structured and musically consistent sound files per exercise.

This greatly reduced the time and effort needed to produce or revise content—especially important when we later updated exercise difficulty based on analytics feedback.

📊 Data Pipeline & Analytics Infrastructure

In 2023, I implemented a robust ETL data pipeline using AWS Lambda, Python, and DBT, storing cleaned and processed data in a centralized PostgreSQL database. This data was visualized in Metabase, allowing the entire company to make informed decisions based on user behavior.

The insights gained from this system had broad applications:

  • It powered the user segmentation used by our automated emailing system
  • It enabled pedagogical analysis, helping us identify exercises that were “too difficult”, “too easy”, or “not engaging”
  • It informed content redesign, including rebuilding sound sets using the Sound Factory when a pedagogical shift was needed

✉️ Automated Mailing System

Also in 2023, I designed and deployed an automated mailing pipeline using AWS Lambda and the Mailchimp API. The system triggered targeted email flows based on the user journey and segments defined by the data infrastructure described above.

This led to measurable improvements in:

  • User conversion
  • Long-term engagement
  • Retention

📱 Hearing Aid Mobile App

In 2024, I led the development of a multi-platform mobile application for hearing aid users, enabling them to conduct daily at-home auditive tests. The app collects results over time and sends a Dynamic Audio Profile to the user’s audiologist, enabling more precise hearing aid adjustments.

The MVP focused on the Level Intensity Test, which assesses the user’s sensitivity across different frequencies and sound pressure levels (dB).

🚀 Impact & Takeaways

Working at Meludia was a unique opportunity to merge my passions for technology, music, and meaningful user experiences. Rather than working in isolation, each project I contributed to became part of a larger ecosystem—where software, pedagogy, data, and design continuously informed each other.

From building internal tools like the Sound Factory, to shaping the way we understood users through data pipelines, and finally developing applications with real-world medical impact, I experienced how powerful it can be when code becomes a bridge between disciplines. These experiences deepened my appreciation for purposeful development—where the goal isn’t just to ship features, but to solve problems with clarity, care, and long-term vision.

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to learn more about any of these projects!
